Primarily letters from William R. Hearst and other members of his staff, and copies or drafts of Hastings' replies. Hastings was editor of the New York Journal, 1906-26, and supervising editor of several newspapers in the Hearst Service, 1926-42. Biographical Sketch John R. Hastings was supervising editor of the Hearst newspapers from 1926 until his death in 1942.
